Why data science still has opportunities

For the past four years, data science jobs have been ranked number one in the United States. But this year, according to Glassdoor’s annual ranking, data science jobs are not number one. Still, the data science industry is a great industry to get into exciting job opportunities and high pay scales.

A data scientist’s average turnover was $111,200, and the average job satisfaction was 4.25 out of 5 stars. This was the main reason why data science jobs were at the top of the list of all jobs for four whole years continuously on Glassdoor’s list of top 50 jobs. 

But this year, when Glassdoor announced its list of top 50 jobs at the start of the year, the data science industry descended to third place. The reason behind this was not a fall in job satisfaction or average salary, but the other two jobs in the first and second positions simply had more job openings. With the steep growing trend of job postings in data firms from 2016 to 2018, the growth curve remained flat in 2019 to 2020. In this huge global IT market, data science is a very comfortable field. The priority for data scientists was topsy-turvy in 2020, mainly due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation worldwide. After this situation is over, there should be growth in this sector once again.

 The data science industry has recovered a lot from the first quarter of 2020. Since the lockdown eased worldwide, the number of job openings has increased since. Tech jobs have faced a great standstill since the start of the lockdown in the first part of this year. The present growth can easily be traced to resume a somewhat normal life after the lockdown caused by the pandemic.
