NID DAT exam is an entrance test which every NID aspirant must appear. This is a two tier entrance test which consists of prelims exam and mains exams. This exam is mainly conducted for the aspirants who want to seek NID admission in the undergraduate courses offered by the different campuses of NID. The aspirants are offered admissionbased on their performance in the NID DAT Exam.
Eligibility criteria or requirements for applying for NID DAT Exam, 2021
There are certain eligibility criteria which the candidates have to meet in order to apply for the NID entrance exam. The eligibility criteriadepend on various factors like age, qualification, etc.
Eligibility criteria for Undergraduate courses:
Age limit:
The aspirants who belong to general and general EWS category must be not more than 20 years old on or before 1st July of the appearing year. The OBC or ST/SC candidates can get a relaxation of upto three years. The Candidates from the PwD Reserved category get an exemption of 5 years.
- Educational qualification: The candidates who want to apply for the NID DAT Exam must have passed or currently appearing for the class 12 examination in any discipline and can be from any of the stream of science, commerce or arts. The other equivalents degrees of this educational qualification are:
The candidate must have passed or are appearing for 10+2 examination from either a central board or state board recognized by the Association of Indian Universities. The Intermediate or two-year pre-university examination from a university or a board which is authorized under the Association of Indian Universities. Individuals who have passed or are appearing the final examination of Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy which is of two year duration. The aspirant must have passed or appeared for the senior secondary school examination from the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
Completed giving an examination which is equivalent to 10+2 system under the AIU from any public school, board or university in India or any foreign countries. The students who have passed H.S.C vocational examination are also eligible to apply for this examination. Any candidate who has taken General Certificate Education examination at the Advanced level from Cambridge, London or Sri Lanka can also qualify for applying in this exam.
The three year diploma courses opted by some students after class 10 are approved by the AICTE and is offered by the Board of Technical Education of any state or Union Territories of India is also considered equivalent to 10+2 examination. Candidates who appeared for their 10+2 or equivalent examination from a foreign or overseas board or university are required to get an authentication certificate in order to confirm that the qualification they have is equivalent to 10+2 examination in India. Candidates will have to produce this certificate during the process of document verification.
