Will the course teach you recipes for baked goods, such as biscuits, cakes, doughnuts, pastries, flatbread, and bread? Knowing what you can expect from the course will help you decide if it’s the right fit for you.
4. Is your instructor qualified?
Of course, I wanted to learn from the best, so I made sure my instructor was the best in the industry. Look for a teacher with a passion and understanding of baking. A wealth of experience in the field, too.
Does your teacher have a professional background in baking? Do they have any certifications, recognitions, or awards? Make sure the instructor has a good reputation and can provide references or testimonials from past students.
5. Online, Hybrid, or In-Person Class?
While I was looking for baking courses for beginners, I entered many formats. There are online, hybrid, and physical or in-person classes. Each format has its advantages and disadvantages, so it’s vital to consider what’s best for you.
For instance, online courses offer the flexibility of schedule and convenience, but you won’t have the opportunity for hands-on training.
Meanwhile, in-person classes provide hands-on experience and the chance to interact with other students and the teacher, but they can be more time-consuming and expensive.
On the other hand, hybrid courses offer a combination of online and in-person learning, giving you the best of both worlds.
6. Read reviews and ask for recommendations.
I am not talking about the review on sourdough bread in Singapore. Reading reviews and asking for recommendations from friends, colleagues, family and your local baker is a great way to get an idea of the quality of a baking course.
Look for reviews that mention the instructor’s teaching style, the course content, and the overall experience. You can also check out forums, review websites, and social media groups dedicated to baking to get recommendations from others who have taken similar courses.
It is only difficult in the first part, but once you find the perfect baking courses for beginners and start your classes, it will be fun!
